About the role:
The Quality Systems Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining robust quality management systems to ensure compliance with food safety regulations, customer requirements, and third-party standards such as BRCGS.
Key Accountabilities of the role – IT: What I do
Quality Systems Management:
- Develop, implement, and maintain the site-specific Quality Management Systems in line with BRCGS, HACCP, and all customer Code of Practices and Standards.
- Ensure documentation, records, and procedures are effectively controlled and regularly reviewed.
- Lead the sites internal audit program and coordinate customer and 3rd party audits from a systems perspective (e.g., BRC, customer audits, regulatory inspections).
- Development and review of the sites Food Safety & Quality Risk Assessments
Coordination, recording and communication of customer complaints
Leading external audits and acting as the main contact for third-party certification bodies.
Drive effective root cause analysis and corrective / preventative action.
Interface with customers, suppliers and regulatory bodies on food safety & quality matters
Trend and report on all KPI data.
Corordinate the sites QMS management reviews
Compliance & Food Safety:
- Work with the Quality Assurance Manager to ensure that all food safety and legal compliance are integrated into the production environment.
- Maintain the sites HACCP plan.
- Ensure that site traceability systems are challenged and comply with customer and food safety requirements.
- Management of customer portals and co-ordination of all requests to customers and 3rd party audit bodies
Team Leadership:
- Key site contact and interface with Customers Technical Contacts
Continuous Improvement:
- Analyse trends from complaints, audits, and quality KPIs to identify areas for improvement.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with the Quality Assurance Manager and site operational team to drive and embed the customer and legal requirements for a High Care food manufacturing facility
- Work closely with production, engineering, NPD, and supply chain teams to ensure quality is embedded throughout the process.
- Liaise with customers and suppliers on technical and quality issues.
- Work closely with Added Value Specification Technologist to ensure that all documentation is compliant for customer onboarding e.g. Specifications, Risk Assessments, SAQ
- Liaise with the Training Co-ordinator to ensure that all updated and new documents are adequately trained out.

- Communicate and consult with the team leaders, team members, and other stakeholders on health and safety matters.
Social & Environmental responsibilities
- Monitor and evaluate the social and environmental performance and impact of your area and report on the progress and challenges.

Skills, Knowledge & experience
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Proficient in MS Office and QMS software platforms.
- Proficient with customer Portal
- Internal Auditor trained, Ideally Lead Auditor trained
- Ideally Level 4 Food Safety & HACCP
- Previous experience as a Quality Systems Manager
- Experience of dealing with retailers and customer portals
- Strong knowledge of HACCP, TACCP, BRCGS / GFSI Standards, Retail Customer COP/
