What are we looking for?
We are seeking an experienced and driven Quality Systems Manager to lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of our site Quality Management Systems. This is a pivotal role within our High Care food manufacturing facility, ensuring full compliance with food safety regulations, customer requirements, and third-party standards including BRCGS, HACCP, TACCP, and retailer Codes of Practice.
You will act as the key systems lead on site, managing audits, driving compliance, supporting customer relationships, and embedding a culture of quality and continuous improvement across the business.
This role will originally be based at our Hilltop site, however the role will be integral in supporting the integration and relocation of our products into our Ratby Lane site later this year. The position will then be based full time at Ratby Lane.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Systems Management
Develop, implement, and maintain site Quality Management Systems aligned with BRCGS, HACCP, customer Codes of Practice, and regulatory requirements
Control, review, and maintain documentation, procedures, and records
Develop and review site Food Safety & Quality Risk Assessments
Conduct GAP analysis against customer and third-party standards
Lead the internal audit programme and coordinate external audits (BRC, customer, regulatory inspections)
Act as primary contact for certification bodies and customers during audits
Manage customer complaints, ensuring effective root cause analysis and corrective/preventative actions
Trend and report on KPI data
Coordinate QMS Management Reviews
Compliance & Food Safety
Maintain HACCP, VACCP, and TACCP plans
Ensure traceability systems meet food safety and customer standards
Manage customer portals and coordinate technical documentation requests
Work closely with the Quality Assurance Manager to embed food safety and legal compliance into production
Leadership & Collaboration
Serve as the key technical contact for customer technical teams
Collaborate with Production, Engineering, NPD, Supply Chain, and QA to embed quality throughout the process
Support customer onboarding documentation (Specifications, Risk Assessments, SAQs)
Liaise with the Training Coordinator to ensure updated procedures are effectively communicated and trained out
Continuous Improvement
Analyse complaint trends, audit outcomes, and KPIs to identify improvement opportunities
Lead root cause analysis and drive corrective and preventative actions
Champion cross-functional collaboration and continuous improvement initiatives
Health, Safety & Sustainability
Communicate and consult on health and safety matters
Monitor and report on social and environmental performance within your area
About You
We are looking for a confident and collaborative quality professional with strong technical knowledge and leadership capability.
Skills & Experience
Previous experience as a Quality Systems Manager within food manufacturing
Strong knowledge of HACCP, TACCP, BRCGS/GFSI standards, retailer and customer Codes of Practice
Experience managing retailer portals and customer relationships
Internal Auditor trained (Lead Auditor qualification desirable)
Level 4 Food Safety & HACCP (desirable)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and leadership capability
Proficient in MS Office and QMS software platforms
