Shift Pattern: Monday – Friday - 07:00 – 15:00, 1 week in 4 - 05:00 – 13:00
Contract Type: Full-Time Permanent
Salary: £50,428.80 – Call out, standby and shift allowance pay on top

We are looking for a skilled and proactive Site Services Engineer to support the smooth and efficient running of our factory operations. This role focuses on resolving breakdowns, delivering high-quality maintenance, and driving continuous improvement across site services, facilities, and production equipment.
You will play a key role in ensuring optimal performance, safety, hygiene, and compliance, while contributing to overall operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out maintenance across site services and facilities
Respond rapidly to breakdowns, minimising downtime and ensuring efficient resolution
Repair plant and equipment during production, working independently or as part of a team
Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) with a proactive approach
Conduct daily checks on all site services and utilities
Core Utilities & Systems:
Steam boilers and pipework
Air compressors
Water treatment systems
Effluent treatment plant
Refrigeration and ammonia systems
Cooling towers and water systems
Ensure compliance and optimal performance of all utilities
Drive improvements in plant uptime, OEE, and maintenance KPIs
Identify and report hazards, ensuring adherence to Health, Safety & Environmental standards
Complete engineering reports and maintain accurate records
Support stock control and CMMS systems
Additional Duties:
Supervise contractors and manage permits to work
Maintain safe working environments, tools, and equipment
Ensure availability and correct handling of chemicals
Liaise with internal teams and external contractors
Support continuous improvement initiatives across the site
Maintain strong communication with Production and Engineering teams
Uphold GMP, hygiene standards, and company procedures
Skills & Experience
Essential:
Minimum 3 years’ engineering experience
Multi-skilled (electrical & mechanical) with NVQ Level 3 or higher
Completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship
17th or 18th Edition certification
Proven experience within the food manufacturing industry
BOAS (Boiler Operation Accreditation Scheme) certification
Health & Safety and Basic Food Hygiene training
Experience managing on-site contractors
Technical & Personal Skills:
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability
Proactive and continuous improvement mindset
Ability to work independently and within a team
Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
Comfortable working under pressure and to deadlines
IT literate (MS Office and maintenance systems)
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Logical, flexible, and hands-on approach
