About the role:
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Assistant Farm Manager to support the daily operations of our egg-laying poultry farm. The ideal candidate will assist in managing livestock, supervising staff, maintaining biosecurity standards, and ensuring optimal egg production. This role requires hands-on involvement, attention to detail, and a passion for animal welfare and sustainable farming practices.
Key Accountabilities of the role – IT: What I do

Livestock Management:
- Monitor the health and welfare of laying hens.
- Assist with feeding, watering, and egg collection routines.
- Identify and report signs of illness or distress in birds.
Production Oversight:
- Monitor egg quality, quantity, and grading.
- Maintain accurate records of production metrics.
Staff Supervision:
- Assist in training and supervising farm workers.
- Ensure adherence to safety and hygiene protocols.
- Coordinate daily tasks and shift schedules.
Facility Maintenance:
- Oversee cleanliness and maintenance of poultry houses.
- Ensure equipment is functioning properly (feeders, waterers, lighting).
- Support repairs and upgrades as needed.
Biosecurity & Compliance:
- Enforce biosecurity measures to prevent disease outbreaks.
- Ensure compliance with animal welfare regulations and farm policies.
- Maintain documentation for audits and inspections.
Inventory & Supplies:
- Monitor feed, medication, and equipment inventory.
- Assist with ordering and receiving supplies.

Health & Safety responsibilities
- Ensure that the team members follow the health and safety policies and procedures.
- Identify and assess the health and safety risks in the work area and implement control measures.
- Investigate and report any hazards, incidents, or injuries to a manager.
- Provide the team members with the necessary personal protective equipment and clothing.
- Monitor and review the health and safety performance of the team and take corrective actions.
- Conduct health and safety training and induction for the team members.
Social & Environmental responsibilities
- Ensure that your team members understand and comply with the company's policies and guidelines on sustainability, ethics, diversity and inclusion, and health and safety.
- Provide feedback, coaching, and recognition to your team members on their social and environmental performance and development.
- Identify and implement initiatives to improve the social and environmental outcomes of your team's work and contribute to the company's strategy and reporting.

Skills, Knowledge & experience
Previous experience in poultry farming or livestock management preferred.
Strong organisational and communication skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
Physically fit and comfortable working in farm environments.
