What are we looking for?

As a motivated Commercial Management Accountant within our Finance team, this role is ideal for someone currently studying towards CIMA (early to mid-studies), with strong analytical skills and a passion for supporting commercial decision making. Prior experience in a commercial finance role is advantageous but not essential. However, costing experience is a requirement, with the ability to analyse, interpret and challenge cost data to drive operational and financial performance.

Working closely with the Senior Management Accountant, Finance Manager and wider business, you will play a key role in providing financial insight, supporting pricing decisions, evaluating profitability and strengthening the organisation’s position.

Key Accountabilities of the role – IT: What I do

Commercial Finance & Business Partnering

  • Support commercial teams with financial insight to aid pricing, promotions, tenders and customer profitability analysis.

  • Provide regular and ad‑hoc analysis to challenge assumptions and improve commercial outcomes.

  • Build strong relationships with operational, commercial and supply chain stakeholders.

Costing & Operational Finance

  • Own and maintain product costing models.

  • Investigate cost variances and provide clear, actionable insights.

  • Support cost-saving initiatives, process improvements and margin optimisation projects.

Management Accounting

  • Assist with month end activities including journals, accruals, prepayments and cost centre reviews.

  • Prepare management reporting packs with clear commentary on key drivers.

  • Support budgeting and forecasting cycles.

  • Provide KPI reporting and support continuous improvement of reporting tools and dashboards.

Data, Systems & Processes

  • Work with the Commercial Finance Manager and Senior Commercial Management Accountant to enhance financial models, dashboards and reporting tools.

  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data across costing and commercial systems.

· Contribute to ongoing process improvements within commercial finance.

Skills, Knowledge & experience

Essential

  • Part qualified CIMA student (early to mid-studies).

  • Costing experience—ideally in a manufacturing, production, or cost driven environment.

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail.

  • Confident user of Excel (lookups, pivot tables).

  • Ability to communicate financial information to non‑finance stakeholders.

  • Proactive, inquisitive mindset with a willingness to challenge and improve processes.

Desirable

  • Experience in a commercial, pricing, or business partnering role.

  • Exposure to product costing systems or ERP environments.

  • Experience with Power BI or other visualisation tools.

  • Background in manufacturing, FMCG, supply chain, retail, or similar industries.
